Korean Skincare Secrets You Should Know

You may have noticed that Korean celebrities have recently become more popular worldwide. One of the things people admire about them is their flawless skin. In fact, practically all Koreans are very particular when it comes to skincare. Considering this, you may want to learn some Korean skincare secrets that can possibly help you get more youthful, healthy-looking skin.

1. Stay Hydrated

Ask any health and fitness expert anywhere in the world, and you’ll be told that drinking plenty of fluids (especially water) throughout the day is one of the best ways to keep your skin healthy. It is no wonder, then, that adequate hydration is one of the primary skincare secrets of Koreans. Not only do they drink a lot of water throughout the day, but they also start each day by splashing cold water onto their face for a few minutes.

2. Cleanse, Tone, and Moisturize Regularly

Regardless of where you are in the world, you’ve probably heard of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing as essential parts of regular skincare. What sets the Koreans apart in this case is the unique way with which they cleanse, tone, and moisturize. In cleansing, they have what’s known as the “424 technique.” This involves cleansing with oil for 4 minutes, washing with foam cleanser for 2 minutes, and rinsing for 4 minutes. In toning, Koreans tap with their fingers rather than wipe, and they rub their hands together to warm it before applying moisturizers.

3. Apply Face Masks

Koreans typically apply a cleansing mask followed by a nourishing mask once each week. Homemade egg white-and-honey mixture masks are also all-time favorites among Korean celebrities and ordinary folk alike. Masks are typically applied before bedtime, allowed to set and dry for a few minutes and then carefully rinsed off.

4. Eat Right

Fruits and vegetables are considered by Koreans as the most important parts of their regular meals where skincare is concerned. They also eat yogurt daily and eggs occasionally. Furthermore, they are very careful in staying away from food that contain too much sodium. They also deem it important to avoid eating chocolates and junk food as well as drinking black tea and soft drinks. If asked, they’d likely advise you to drink milk instead.

5. Sleep Well

Koreans make it a point to sleep for 6 to 8 hours each night. They recognize the importance of getting a good night’s sleep for maintaining healthy and youthful skin. You may have to give up your favorite all-night parties, but if you really want to have beautiful skin, it’s surely worth the sacrifice, isn’t it?

These are just the most basic Korean skincare tips you’d want to follow if you want your skin to glow with health and beauty. Their skincare regimen may seem like too much of a hassle at first, but when you get used to doing it day after day, it actually won’t seem like such a bother at all. More importantly, when you see the results, you’ll be sure to consider it well worth the effort.
