1. Stand about 8 inches from a mirror.
2. Hold a ruler against your brow.
3. Close your right eye to align the ruler's 0 mm mark with the center of your left pupil.
4. Keep your head straight and then close your left eye while opening your right.
5. The millimeter mark that aligns with the center of your right pupil is your PD.
6. You've successfully measured your single PD!

For reading glasses, subtract 3mm from the value you just measured above and enter it into the PD field when adding to cart.

Tips for accuracy:

• Repeat the measurement 3-4 times at different times throughout the day. Your PD can change slightly, so an average of these readings is most reliable.

Getting a little help:

• It's easier with a friend. Keep your eyes open and look straight ahead.
• Your friend should stay out of your direct line of sight at eye level.
• Fix your gaze on an object 20 feet away, not on your friend. It's tough, but this is how you get the most accurate PD measurement.

This is what a typical glasses prescription (Rx) looks like:

• Sphere (SPH): +'ve value indicates hyperopia (farsightedness), -'ve indicates myopia (nearsightedness)
• Cylinder (CYL): having a value here indicates the presence of astigmatism. It can be written with + or -. - is usually written by an optometrist, whereas + is usually written by an ophthalmologist. They both mean the same thing.
• Axis: having a value here indicates the presence of astigmatism. Please note that 000 and 180 both mean the same thing.
• Both CYL and AXIS are needed together (cannot have one without the other!)
• Add: This provides magnifying power for reading, progressive, and bifocal lenses. You will have the same number for both eyes. We can process only reading glasses, not progressives or bifocals. Therefore, if you enter a value here, note that you will be receiving reading glasses. If you leave it blank or at 0.00, we will send you single vision glasses.
• PD (Pupillary Distance): The distance between your 2 pupils in millimetres. This is required to customize your glasses. See above on how to measure yours if your prescription doesn't already state it.

Our Rx lab can process any single-vision Rx (which includes normal glasses for farsightedness/nearsightedness and readers) that fits in the following ranges: SPH -10.00 to +10.00, CYL 0.00 to -6.00.
